Maternity Leave Resources

Raising a family while nurturing a career can be complex, exhausting, expensive and fulfilling.  At the Harvard Longwood Campus (HLC), there are resources and programs to support you along the way:

Mothers Rooms are available at HLC where you can express milk or nurse.  All rooms are equipped with Medela pumps and you will need to bring your own pump accessories.  For room locations and logistical details please go to http://hlc.harvard.edu/mothers-rooms/.  Please review Harvard University’s Guidelines & Best Practices for Nursing Mothers in the Workplace.

Childcare Resources are listed on http://hr.harvard.edu/childcare and http://hlc.harvard.edu/wl-homefamily

You may email worklife@hsph.harvard.edu to request a child care consultation phone appointment to go over your family’s specific needs and pros and cons of each type of childcare available.

If you are Harvard-paid faculty, staff, or postdoc and would like confidential consultation for parenting, family, or another type of personal or workplace challenge, please call Harvard’s Employee Assistance Program at 1-877-327-4278.

Postpartum mood disorders affect up to 20% of new moms.  Please review information and resources.
